Caversham recently agreed to continue to support the International Tennis events hosted by the Channel Island Lawn Tennis Association (CILTA) in Jersey for 2007 and 2008. This continues a long history of supporting tennis in the Channel Islands by the group.
The first event this year took place during the week ending the 11th March and Jane O’Donoghue claimed her first title of 2007 in Jersey as three of the four titles on offer fell into British hands.
O’Donoghue, from Lancashire, beat top-seeded Swiss Gaelle Widmer 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 in the final of the Caversham $10,000 ITF event at the Les Ormes Tennis Centre.

The 23-year-old fourth seed enjoyed a fine run of results in the Channel Islands. She didn't drop a set on the way to the final before seeing off the higher ranked Swiss, currently No.255 in the world.
The women’s doubles title also went to British players when Elizabeth Thomas and Anna Hawkins teamed up to take the trophy as third seeds.
The men’s doubles at the Caversham $15,000 ITF event at the same venue went to Scot Jamie Baker and Pakistan’s Aisam Qureshi. They beat Hampshire’s Josh Goodall and Surrey’s Ross Hutchins 6-2, 7-6 in the final.
The men’s singles title went to sixth-seeded Frenchman Gary Lugassy.
Tournament organiser Hugh Raymond thanked Caversham for their continued commitment, stating that without this support these events would not be possible. He also commented that the CILTA and Caversham were working together on a number of local community projects to promote Tennis locally and on the possibility of hosting an ATP event in Jersey in 2008.
