Caversham relocates

Caversham has become the first member of the Island’s finance industry to take advantage of the new office space available on the St Helier Waterfront.

The independent financial services firm recently moved from their premises in Union Street, where it had been based for the past 11 years, to the new Harbour Reach development alongside Elizabeth Marina.

Robert Surcouf, a director of Caversham, says the move not only provides the best possible working environment for staff but is also a statement of Caversham’s confidence in, and commitment to, Jersey.

He says: ‘The waterfront is providing an opportunity to the Island’s financial services industry to show its long term dedication to Jersey by investing in facilities that meet the requirements of the 21st century. The mix of retail and residential spaces within Harbour Reach will ensure that the area has a real buzz all year round and we wanted to be a part of this exciting development.’

Caversham, which also has offices in London and Geneva, was established in Jersey in 1977 and employs 41 people in Jersey. The new premises offer staff a large, open plan office, with natural light, more desk and storage space with room for expansion, and a large kitchen area with a breakfast bar and an area for staff to socialise. State-of-the art technology and telecommunications systems will also ensure improved efficiency for the company as a whole.

Determined to make the most of the new waterfront position, Caversham has negotiated a special rate for its staff with nearby Fitness First and to welcome them to their new home, each member of staff was given a large golf umbrella bearing the new corporate logo to help them fight the winter elements.

Mr Surcouf says: ‘Harbour Reach offers us space, light and the kind of working environment that many people could only ever dream of enjoying. Everybody has uninterrupted views over the Marina, Elizabeth Castle and beyond.'

‘Every day, as I walk into the office, I have to take a few minutes to enjoy the view and realise how lucky I am to live and work in such a beautiful island and I cannot imagine this feeling ever changing.’

The move to the waterfront was carefully organised to take place over a long weekend in order to cause the least disruption to customers. Caversham will hold an office party in late April for customers and intermediaries to coincide with the launch of its new website and brochure.
